Octopolis to Halki
The original 'one off' watercolours, drawings and letterings for each page of this book are available for purchase. Please contact us with page number for availability and price. "Of Greek islands in general and Halki in particular." Graham Clarke, together with his wife Wendy, fulfilled a long held dream and in the spring of 2002 they joined the good ship Hebridean Spirit to sail the Greek Seas. The islands worked their magic and the result is one of the artist's larger etchings 'Octopolis'. On seeing this finished work good friends declared, "Halki!" and together with other lovers of this tiny island off the west coast of Rhodes, made a gift of 'Octopolis' to the island community of Halki, in memory of good friends and in gratitude for many splendid holidays spent there. Graham and Wendy paid their first visit to this wonderful island for the presentation and 'Octopolis' now hangs in the fine town hall. In 1983 UNESCO and the Greek Government named Halki, 'Isle of Peace and Friendship'. This book combines the artist's passions for small islands, boats, fish and good people, with his unique skill and humour. But above all it is made with a joyful heart and much love; a souvenir for visitors, armchair explorers and fellow fish gluttons the world over.
